Barricades were lit on fire at the corner of St-Marc and René-Levesque in order to block car traffic. A #WetsuwetenStrong banner was hung from highway signage to express solidarity with indigenous sovereignties."

It is no longer a rallying cry, it is something that we mean to live by.”

Jan 24
Guelph, ON
RBC in Guelph occupied.
"The aim of occupying this space is to send a clear message to RBC, as well as all other financial institutions involved, those being TD and HSBC, to stop funding the violence and destruction that Coastal GasLink and the RCMP are inflicting upon Wet’suwet’en people on their unceded lands. We know that RBC, TD and HSBC are currently acting as financial advisers to the shareholders of the Coastal Gaslink Pipeline Project. By helping to fund the CGL pipeline project, RBC, TD and HSBC are directly implicated in and responsible for the criminalization of Wet’suwet’en land defenders, the violation of Wet’suwet’en law, the RCMP’s ongoing attacks and the destruction of unceded Indigenous lands."

Jan 22
Burlington, ON
Signaling station at busy railway intersection in Burlington set on fire.
"We did this by identifying a signal station and setting a fire under its power supply to destroy the cables that would feed it. Hoping this will take them some time to repair and keeping the line closed for longer.
We do this to show the ones on the front lines they are not alone and that others will make strong moves in solidarity should the RCMP advance against them. We chose this stressful moment of negotiations that started today to help the front lines keep their fires bright.
Let’s keep blocking the rails, solidarity is a powerful tool that lets us all build autonomy. RCMP out of Wet’suwet’en territory and everywhere else."

Jan 22
Lekwungen territories/Victoria, BC
Indigenous youth occupy Ministry of Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources office.

"As Indigenous youth we stand with Wet’suwet’en assertion of sovereignty because we understand that Indigenous Peoples will cease to exist without our land; our languages, cultures, and future generations cannot survive without our it. Indigenous youth are not only inheriting a climate crisis driven by fossil fuel projects like CGL, but Canada’s legacy of colonization, genocide, and gendered violence against Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. In protecting the lands from industrial development, we are protecting our bodies from violence"

Jan 21
Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe Territory/Kingston, ON.

50 + people solidarity demo. "The gathering was opened with songs and a speech. Then, despite the snow storm, the march took to the streets and traveled from Kingston City Hall to Queen’s University where Jawad Masud, TC Energy VP of Corporate Communications was speaking at the Oil and Gas Panel at the Queen’s Global Energy Conference.
Because the oil and gas industry continues to IGNORE AND ATTACK Indigenous Peoples and continues to GREENWASH their own climate crimes, marchers read statements to the conference-goers, including press releases from Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs as well as an open letter from Amnesty International.
The space was held in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en people for about 40 minutes."

Our rally’s message to the world is this: NO MORE COLONIZATION. We are paying attention and ready to act. No more poisoning indigenous peoples and their waters (which we all drink). No more desecration of these lands and forests. No extractivist coal, oil, gas, and logging stealing from this earth and all of us who live on it in the name of profits. Our message to the federal government, the RCMP, the banks, and anybody involved in the attacks on the Wet’suwet’en people, their territories, and their infrastructure is this: We are watching, and we are ready to take action. We will not stand by inactive, and watch in complicity.
